Review – Morton of Pitmilly

Many of our family holidays have been spent in Devon or Cornwall. We love the beaches, towns and coastal walks. The only thing not to like is the 270 mile drive from Manchester, which is not a problem, apart from the traffic. Ever sat on the A30 in a queue and you will know what I mean!!
In 2009 our holiday travelling changed for the better, when for the first time we discovered Fife. In particular Morton of Pitmilly, on the outskirts of St. Andrews. Empty beaches, glorious coastal walks and an amazing resort to stay at.
Why drive 270 miles South, when you can drive 290 miles North in less time, and seldom encounter a traffic problem ?
One of the best beaches we have EVER been to is Kingsbarns, just 5 minutes away from Pitmilly. Seemingly endless sand, generally only a few people on it, and most importantly to us now, dog friendly, all year round! Its Cornwall, without the crowds and much easier to get to…

Why Morton of Pitmilly?

We have been back to Pitmilly at least once a year since 2009. Their tag line is “Stay, Play and Relax” and it’s hard to come up with a better description. The accommodation is Four & Five star, self catering in a mix of sizes from 1 – 4 bedrooms, all are dog friendly. The original houses are converted farm buildings around a central courtyard, with new accommodation recently built as The Steading,(layout) The staff are wonderful and go out of their way to help.
Driving into the car park now feels like pulling up our drive at home.

As our family has grown we have booked for us and 3 young teenagers, right through to taking our children with their partners. Sometimes grandparents have come too. Other times we have taken friends, whilst enjoying breaks away for just the two of us and the dogs in-between. We have probably stayed in 80% of the available “houses” There is no other holiday destination we have returned to so many times.

Outdoors: walks, tennis court, pop up food stalls, putting green, play area, chickens.Indoors: swimming pool, tennis court, games room, gym, spa treatments… Pitmilly has it all and more.
Bookings are Monday to Friday or Friday to Monday or combine the two. Follow Pitmilly on Facebook and occasionally you can get a last minute deal!
Dog friendly

Jessie and Max holiday with us and are part of the family, they are always welcomed at Pitmilly. Although all the accommodation is dog friendly, if you are not a dog owner you wouldn’t know, as everything is kept spotlessly clean. Dogs are allowed at most places on site, with a couple of exceptions, children’s play area and swimming pool for example.

If you are looking for a relaxing break, with our without dogs give Morton of Pitmilly a try.
We may even see you there !

While you are at Pitmilly:

Walk the coast.
Visit Tentsmuir Nature Reserve,
Buy a fudge donut from Fisher and Donaldson,
Visit Scotlands Secret Nuclear Bunker.
Run on the Chariots of Fire Beach in St. Andrews.
Try a cheese toasty from the Cheesey Toast Shack….
 and much more!
