The desire to create

For many years I built model railways, it was fun and it satisfied my desire to create things. But, like many people that are creative, I loose interest in what I have made and it sits on a shelf collecting dust. I have also realised that much of my enjoyment came from taking pictures and creating videos.

There perhaps is something childlike in the desire to imagine a toy in a realistic setting, with age comes more ability to fabricate these settings. The pictures above are some of the 1:72 scale models I created. Below is a much larger train running in our garden. Radio Controlled with Sound.

With no regrets most of the trains have now gone.

Lego

My more recent creative hobby is Lego. The great thing about Lego?

You can take it to pieces and create something new, no concrete or glue!

Lego set 42099 above was a fun build, but when I got bored I simply took it to pieces and built this below!

As you can see, I still get enjoyment out of taking pictures! No quick snaps on the kitchen table here! If you are short of inspiration there are websites like Redbrickable that share other peoples creations with instructions. The truck above is based on a creation by a Lego employee, Grohl.

And With Radio Controlled Lego plus a Gopro, I still get to make videos !!!

I think everyone needs an element of escapism, for some its football.

Me I just love to make things, I find it brings a calming focus.
