Model Boat

In early 2012 I embarked on building a model boat. It had been a hobby shared between my Mum and Dad until her passing in October 2011. I had always built models but my thing had mainly been trains. It was a nice way to spend time with my Dad as I sailed the kit he purchased and I built. From start to finish the model took about 3 months and is currently safe on a shelf in my shed. Perhaps 2022 will be the year it has another sail?

The model is 37 inches long and 7.5 inches wide. a 1/32 scale replica of a real fishing trawler named Maggie M. The kit produced by Model Slipway is basically a pre-moulded hull and lots of sheets of plastic, marked to be cut out by the modeller and assembled. Along with several bags of cast metal detail parts. The real trawler, pictured below, was built in 1990 and operates out of Scarborough Harbour.
